"We've been in this war for quite some time now, we just haven't been fighting back."
Mike Hendrix at Cold Fury addressed some of the points raised "by people who really should consider keeping their mouths shut", September 16, 2001:
.... "This is the first shot in a new kind of war."
No, this is NOT the first shot, although it certainly does seem to be a new kind of war. The first shot was the Iran hostage crisis in 1979. Then we had the Marine barracks bombing in Beirut, the capture, torture, and murder of William Buckley (the CIA Station Chief in Beirut), Pan Am flight 103, the bombing of the German disco (which was directed at U.S. servicemen who hung out there), the attacks on the USS Cole and USS Stark, the embassy bombings in East Africa, and a lot of others. We've been in this war for quite some time now, we just haven't been fighting back. The insistence of the American Left to view these events as isolated incidents and their further insistence on a policy of complete appeasement in all of our relations with the rest of the world (i.e., the Kyoto treaty, the U.N "racism" conference, to name the most recent examples) is what has gotten us where we are, and it's high time the rest of us simply dismissed their mewling whines of "no blood for oil" and "peace in our time" (oops, sorry, that one's from World War II) and got on with the business of defending American lives and American global interests by any means necessary - up to and including military assaults on those nations and groups who have proven themselves hostile to everything we stand for many times over....
(Thanks, Susanna. And have a great week!)
