Interview with Archbishop Timothy Dolan
Lots of St. Blog's members have blogged about this article in yesterday's Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel. It's a good article, and it reveals Archbishop Dolan as an orthodox son of the Church. But one part did especially catch my eye and leave me with a question:
.... And one of the things I was relieved to see is that, see, some people offering me advice about Milwaukee have said, 'Well you know, St. Francis has put out all these rabid feminists who are anti-clerical.' And I'm thinking, 'Boy, I sure haven't met any of them. I mean I meet strong, independent women who are very legitimately proud of their role of the church in pastoral leadership. But I see in these women unfailingly a love for priests, a respect for the teaching of the church. I haven't seen any of the red flags that some people had told me, 'You'd better be worried about.' So, no....
Now, as everybody knows, I'm a small-town boy. Maybe I just don't have enough experience of the world. But it seems to me that, if there really were any red flags hanging about, some folks would see to it that they got put into the closet when the new archbishop came calling for the first time.
No?
