The Triumph of the Cross

Today in the Roman Rite is the Feast of the Triumph of the Cross. In honor of the feast, here are selections from Ven. John Henry Newman's Parochial and Plain Sermons concerning the mystery:

"The Cross of Christ the Measure of the World" is widely considered to be the greatest of the Parochial and Plain Sermons.

The selections were chosen from a list compiled by the indefatigable Bob Elder for his monumental Newman Reader.

P.S. Bob has posted a list of what Newman himself considered to be "some of the best".
