I'm With Shawn on This One "I am not liking what appears to be Mr. Rose's governing methodology." Shawn McElhinney of Rerum Novarum has chimed in on Michael Rose vs. Fr. Rob Johansen: I cannot recall whose blog first made me aware of Fr. Rob Johansen's Blog but I have been following the Michael Rose/Fr. Rob situation with interest. However, as one who gave Mr. Rose a kind of "blank check" in accepting him as credible with little corroberating evidence (basically because Traditional charity compelled me to in light of evidences to the contrary) I am not liking what appears to be Mr. Rose's governing methodology.... Exactly. I referred to Michael Rose's "soon-to-be published" book in my column, April 8: .... Celibacy has been blamed for nearly 40 years as one of the chief, if not the chief, cause of the decline in priestly vocations; and, that decline has then been used as an argument to end mandatory celibacy. A soon-to-be-published book, by Michael S. Rose, argues instead that good, solid, orthodox Catholic men, willing to embrace celibacy and to devote their lives to the service of God and the Catholic Church, have been turned away — if not actually driven away — from Catholic seminaries in the USA. In droves. For decades.... I even quoted the items in the table of contents. Mr. Rose's more recent behavior is starting to make me feel really stupid for having placed so much trust in his publication. And I really don't need anybody else's help in making myself feel stupid! :) P.S. A correspondent informs me that an e-mail address for Michael Rose is romatermini@fuse.net, as evidenced on this page at St. Catherine's Review, where he is listed as Editor Emeritus.
