Popup Killer! Talk about irony. I just visited a website that spawns advertisements in popup windows. And I got a popup window for popup window killer software! Lane Core Jr. CIW P Fri. 04/25/03 03:30:10 PM |

Luskin vs. Krugman I have thoroughly enjoyed these columns by Donald Luskin at NRO this week, dissecting the way NYT columnist Paul Krugman deceived his readers, in a column Tuesday, about certain aspects of the Bush administration's proposed tax cuts.
Luskin & NRO go pretty far out on a limb, I think, when they accuse Krugman of lying. But the case is rather clear: could an economist with a very, very high profile soapbox be so inept as to actually be making innocently the simple errors he is pawning off on his readers? Luskin answers that question "no", and thus concludes that Krugman is deliberately deceiving his readers. An alternative would be that Krugman's mental agility was is? thoroughly compromised by his profound antipathy towards George W. Bush. Either way, Krugman is Crudman. P.S. "The Future is Now" A psychologically astute article from David Warren. It is dated Apr. 12, but I just found out about it today: .... The sight of Iraqis in Baghdad pulling down the statue of Saddam, beating its face with their shoes, and kissing photographs of President Bush thus arrived like a missile into what Fouad Ajami has so discerningly called, "the dream palace of the Arabs" -- the collective fantasy into which powerful media such as Al-Jazeera had been playing. It was no mere surprise; it was a profound shock to the entire nervous system of the Arab world. It was the first shock on anything like this scale since June 1967, when another generation of Arabs woke to the discovery that tiny Israel had destroyed the massed armies of all the most powerful Arab states, in just six days. But that did not happen with the immediacy of live television..... (Thanks, Peter.) Lane Core Jr. CIW P Fri. 04/25/03 12:26:17 PM |
