Roadmap to Terrorism?

As I'm sure you know, Faithful Reader, Bush & Blair have published a "roadmap" for the future of the Middle East, on which prominence is given, as I understand, to a new Palestinian country. (I believe this is often referred to as "the two-state" solution: Israel and Palestine.)

Surely, I am not the only person who thinks that such a move — coming after years and years of terrorism against Israel, Israelis, and Israeli interests — will be taken by millions of people as a sign that terrorism can be successful. And that such a sign will be the trigger for more acts of terrorism by those who think their political/social/cultural/religious aims can be achieved if they kill enough innocent people over a long enough time. Isn't that what it looks like?

I'm not alone here, am I?

Now, I'm not a Democrat, so I don't think the Bush & Blair administrations are peopled by Dumbsters. So, what are Bush's & Blair's people thinking that I'm not thinking? I suspect that they think the War Against Terrorism is going to be so successful that a reward for terrorism — a Palestinian (that will be, by the way, largely Muslim and largely Arabic) country — will not be enough to offset the damage that will be done to terrorists, terrorists' networks, and the terroristic mindset.

But AFAIK there is no coordinated effort to get rid of Palestinian terrorists beyond what is being done by Israel in response to terroristic attacks. Maybe we will ultimately get rid of al Qaeda. But will we get rid of other terroristic groups? Are we even trying, really, to get rid of any of them?

I think this "roadmap" is a big, big gamble. And I tend to think that future generations are going to look back and wonder why in the world anybody thought that rewarding Palestinian terrorism was a good idea.
