A reader shares her letter to the reporter:

The new bishop of Phoenix is not an "ultra conservative" — he is a faithful Catholic teaching what the Church has taught for 2000 years. Those criticizing him are the dissident members of Call to Action, whose beliefs are more Protestant or secular than they are Catholic. The Church has been suffering from the assault on its truths from these dissidents since the end of Vatican II. It is past time that Church doctrine be clarified for people calling themselves Catholic. If their beliefs are not in line with the core truths of the Church, then they should find a church with beliefs they share. That's the beauty of the U.S.A., they are free to be any or no religion. They are not free to insist that the Catholic Church change to suit them.
