A Little Perspective on Presidential Campaigns

It's only the beginning of January, you know.

Four years ago yesterday, The Blog from the Core noted that the New York Post had reported (Dec. 23, 2003) that Wesley Clark (remember him?) had said on a television show that Howard Dean (remember him?) had offered, the previous summer, to make Clark his vice-presidential running-mate, as an incentive to keep Clark from entering the presidential race.

Ha!

Dean's and Clark's delegates together accounted for a whopping 9.2% of the total number of delegates at the 2004 Democratic Convention. (Even Dennis Kucinich had more delgates than Clark did.)

Also, Rep. Richard Gephardt (D-Mo.) and Sen. Joe Lieberman (D-Conn.) were still in the race four years ago right now, and making demands of ... what's his name?... oh, yes... that Dean fellow.

Ha! again.
